Apple is seeking to reshape Safari web browser on artificial intelligence (AI)-powered search engines in an effort to stop search engine monopolies by end of a longtime partnership with Google.
According to Bloomberg, Eddy Cue, a top executive at Apple, revealed this on Wednesday while testifying in a U.S. government case against Google’s parent company, Alphabet. The case focuses on a massive deal which is worth around $20 billion a year that makes Google the default search engine on Apple’s browser. If the court rules against them, Apple and Google might have to end the agreement, which could change how iPhones and other devices work.
Eddy Cue is emphasized on the fact that the Technology sector around the world is changing so first and he believe that creating Technology shifts is the way forward to adopt the changing needs of users.
“The only way you truly have true competition is when you have technology shifts. Technology shifts create these opportunities. AI is a new technology shift, and it’s creating new opportunities for new entrants.” Eddy Cue Said
Right now, Apple lets people use ChatGPT from OpenAI with Siri, and it’s planning to add Google’s AI tool, Gemini, later this year.
