The partnership between the two space firms is another move aimed to provide satellite-based connectivity to customers all over the globe and more so in regions with limited or poor network access.
During the regulatory filling on Friday, Apple will invest up to $1.5 billion in Globalstar to fund the expansion of its iPhone communication services. This includes a 20% equity stake in Globalstar’s new satellite constellation and over $1.1 billion in cash advances. Globalstar announced it will dedicate 85% of its network capacity to Apple, with the finalization of the deal anticipated on Tuesday.
