Google has announced several new AI tools, including a smart assistant called Gemini Spark that can complete tasks for users automatically. The new “Agentic” AI technology was a major highlight at the company’s Google I/O developer event.
Google and its parent company, Alphabet, have invested billions of dollars in AI technology. The company says spending could reach up to $190 billion this year. Despite the huge investment, Google continues to see strong earnings growth, with its stock rising 11% since last month’s financial report.
Gemini 3.5 AI models
Google has started releasing its new Gemini 3.5 AI models to billions of users worldwide, beginning with Gemini 3.5 Flash. The Flash version is built for speed, and Google says it is its most advanced AI model for coding and smart task handling, while also being much faster than rival models.
Gemini 3.5 Flash is now the default model in the Gemini app and Google Search’s AI mode. Google also plans to launch Gemini 3.5 Pro next month after currently testing it internally. The company says Gemini 3.5 includes improved safety systems to reduce harmful responses and improve accuracy when answering safe and normal questions.
Google Gemini Omni
Google has introduced Gemini Omni, a new AI model that can create realistic videos using text, images, audio, or video prompts. Users can also edit the videos by chatting with the AI.
The company says Omni creates more natural-looking videos because it better understands motion and real-world physics. Gemini Omni Flash is now available for Gemini paid subscribers and is also rolling out free on YouTube Shorts and the YouTube Create app.
Gemini Spark
Gemini Spark, powered by Gemini 3.5, can handle everyday tasks like organizing emails, chats, and meeting notes, then creating summaries and task lists automatically. Since it works in the cloud, it can continue running even when devices are turned off or locked.
Google says Spark will ask for user approval before doing important actions like sending emails or making purchases.
